Emily is our 4s teacher and we couldn’t be happier to have such a talented teacher on our staff. Her classroom reflects the learning domains and areas integral to a rich prekindergarten experience. She shares her love of art through a classroom that is an aesthetically powerful and inviting. Emily leads children on a path of discovery that includes activities and experiences in reading, writing, math, science, art, dance, yoga, music, theatre, engineering, and so much more. Her mantra, “Together we are a masterpiece!”
This year marks her 14th year in education. Emily earned her BA in Art Education from the College of New Jersey (TCNJ). She was an Art Teacher in New Jersey where she taught students from Kindergarten to 8th grade. As an educator she prides herself in teaching students about the possibilities of trying new things, following their imaginations, and being able to not only think outside the box, but to build a new one. Emily stresses the importance of self-worth, confidence, and growth within the classroom environment.
Emily knows that children are capable of creating amazing things when given the proper tools and guidance. She truly believes that a play-based education provides an organic and inspiring environment for young learners. She is thrilled to be a part of the Colonial family as a teacher this year! Emily lives in Annapolis with her husband Joe, and her two children Pierce (4) and Faith (2).
